You’ll be asked to answer questions about why you’re interested in serving with City Year, what experience you have working with someone who has a different identity from your own and how you have worked on a team to accomplish a shared goal.

We recommend using a former or current manager, teacher/professor, coach or mentor. References cannot be friends or family members. You’ll need their contact info; we'll email them directly, and they’ll be asked to fill out a short reference form.

When you start an application, one of our recruiters will reach out to you. We recommend you schedule a 1:1 with your recruiter. They can help you decide on a location that’s right for you, support you with filling out the application and talk to you about your goals.

Qualified candidates will be invited to schedule an interview with a City Year staff member. We use Calendly for scheduling, which allows you to pick a time that works best with your schedule. Interviews are done via phone or Teams and last approximately 35 minutes.

Log into your application portal to accept your offer. Our team will connect you with other confirmed AmeriCorps members at your site and provide you with resources to make your transition into City Year as smooth as possible.
