Sam Bailey, Board Chair
Economic Development Policy Manager, Amazon

Sam Bailey leads Amazon’s economic development efforts for the Mountain West region. Former roles include VP of Economic Development for Metro Denver Economic Development Corp., and various business development roles in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development & International Trade.

Jay Boykin
Fractional CFO and Strategist, Just Human Podcast Host

Jay Boykin is a fractional CFO, financial strategist and podcast host. With a strong background as a Finance Executive and a commitment to driving profitability and growth, Jay specializes in empowering small and mid-sized businesses to achieve their financial goals while maintaining a human-centered approach. As the host of the Just Human podcast, Jay focuses on how leadership grounded in humanity can drive better decision-making, helping leaders navigate life with clarity and purpose, ensuring every decision leads to meaningful, sustainable success.

Michelle DeVoe
Attorney, DeVoe Law

Michelle DeVoe’s practice focuses on environmental litigation, environmental and energy regulatory matters, oil and gas regulatory and compliance matters, and transactional work. She regularly counsels clients on environmental liability and compliance concerns. She also represents real estate and development clients in transactional matters involving environmental issues.

Sarah Grey
Partner, Arnold & Porter

Sarah Grey counsels a wide array of clients on regulatory, policy, and compliance matters related to climate change, including the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), the Clean Air Act (CAA), and other state and international initiatives on transportation sector greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Sarah is a leading strategic advisor on carbon capture, storage, and utilization (CCUS) and other energy transition related opportunities. While at Stanford Law School, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Environmental Law Journal.

Katie Helock
Partner, Deloitte

Katie Helock is a Partner at Deloitte & Touche LLP. In her role, she delivers external accounting and auditing services to public and private clients. She predominately serves clients in the Financial Services sector. Outside of work and the City Year Site board, Katie serves on the Accounting Advisory Board of Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and loves to spend time with her husband and two children, Eleanor (3) and George (6 months).

Anthony Jowid
Partner and Division Vice President American Residential Services/Rescue Rooter

Anthony brings more than 30 years of operations, sales, marketing and management experience. Currently, he is a partner and Division Vice President for American Residential Services/Rescue Rooter, the largest HVAC and Plumbing company in North America. Anthony’s previous non-profit work includes seven years as President, Board Member and Member of the Governance, Facilities and Audit committees for Environmental Charter Schools in Los Angeles; the Challenge Foundation and Denver Urban Scholars, where he was a mentor to youth for nine years, and served on the board as well as the Interview, Selection, Disciplinary and Marketing committees. Anthony is married with two children and lives in Denver and is a proud graduate of Notre Dame.

Laura Love
Founding Partner at GFM|CenterTable

Laura works closely with clients on business strategy, issues management and purposes & social impact programs, as well as developing culture in the workplace. Laura earned a second master’s degree from the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW). She has served on various boards across Denver. In 2015, Laura co-founded the Get Grounded Foundation, the agency’s private 501(c)(3) charitable arm. Most recently, in 2023, she helped launch The Sam Aden Kindness Fund, which focuses on youth mental health prevention programs.

Shaun Myers

He brings a track record of success driven by relationship building and collaboration that focuses on business objectives.

Bill Nunn
Deputy General Counsel, Denver Broncos

Bill Nunn is the Deputy General Counsel for the Denver Broncos where he supports the General Counsel in overseeing all legal and risk management matters relating to the organization. Prior to joining the Broncos in 2022, he was an associate for four years at the Denver office of Hogan Lovells practicing in mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions. Bill has a B.A. in history from American University and received his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School. Outside the office Bill enjoys playing golf, cheering on the Broncos at Empower Field, and spending time with his wife and young daughter.

Dr. Anthony Smith
Deputy Superintendent of Schools, DPS

Dr. Anthony Smith is the Deputy Superintendent of Schools for Denver Public Schools, where he leads the schools and academics divisions. Dr. Smith aspires to change the face of education so that ALL students benefit from the opportunities afforded through an outstanding education. He has served in various school and district leadership roles.

Sheryl Stefaniak, MD
Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

Sheryl has long been committed to the social and emotional development of children. Her 30-yr career as a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist has made an impact in countless children’s lives, holding roles as the Medical Director of Children’s Programs at the Aurora Mental Health Center, Staff Psychiatrist at the Excelsior Youth Residential Center, Physician/Manager of her private practice, and later practicing in the Partial Hospitalization Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Sheryl strongly believes that just one person – whether a teacher, mentor, coach, you name it – can make a positive change in a child’s life.

She lives in Denver with her husband and rescue dog, Walter, who she and her three adult children adore. She volunteers weekly at Bienvenidos Food Bank and at Humane Colorado, formerly the Dumb Friends League, administering medical care – and perhaps their own social and emotional support – to rescue dogs and cats looking for their next home.

Jamie Villarreal-Bassett
Director of DEI, Pinnacol Assurance

Jamie Villarreal-Bassett (she/her) is an experienced leader with 18 years of leadership experience, including more than seven years leading equity, diversity, and inclusion work. She is the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Pinnacol Assurance, the largest workers’ compensation company in Colorado. Since January 2019, Jamie has also run her own DEI consulting business, assisting employers in Colorado and beyond in advancing their DEI goals. Jamie partners with multiple stakeholders to guarantee every single team member and community member, especially those who are Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and of other marginalized identities thrive, not by accident, but by design.

Ann Wilson
Nonprofit staff member and nonpracticing attorney

Ann Wilson is the parent of a student who experienced the positive impact of City Year Denver. She works at PEAK Parent Center, a nonprofit that supports families who have children with disabilities and works to advance the full inclusion of people with disabilities in their schools and communities. She has a range of experience, including corporate law and international business, and volunteers with a variety of organizations.

Whei Wong
Associate VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy, MSU Denver

Whei Wong is the Associate VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy at MSU Denver. She is a strategist, storyteller, communicator and creative thinker who has held a variety of communications roles in higher education and K-12 education. Whei also is a former TV reporter.
