I love independent bookshops and always keep my eye open for one whenever I travel. This weekend we were in Brookings on the Oregon coast. What astrological sign is your character?

How do you create a character out of thin air?  Whether it’s a Protagonist, Antagonist or sidekick, here’s a method I’ve used for putting some ‘meat on the bones’ of my characters. I’ll be reviewing two awesome tools, both astrological sites. The first, Star Signs Explained, is generously laden with character traits for each sign. One book every writer should keep chained to their desk

It is fitting that I begin my author’s website with one of my favorite writing manuals,  The Writer’s Journey, by Christopher Vogler. His book provided a road map for my book, Guardian Cats. Without it, I think my cats and I would have been lost… forever doomed to wander about in some time warp. This is the classic book on mythic story structure, based on Joseph Campbell’s Hero of a Thousand Faces. I affectionately refer to Vogler as Campbell’s translator.
